Trousered Ape
An exercise in presumption.
Dad went to God early yesterday afternoon.
Absolve, O Lord, the souls of the faithful departed from every bond of sins. And by the help of Thy grace may they be enabled to escape the avenging judgment. And enjoy the bliss of everlasting light. Eternal rest give to them, O Lord; and let perpetual light shine upon them.
All things have their season, and in their times all things pass under heaven.
A time to be born and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what has been planted.
A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to destroy, and a time to build.
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance.
A time to scatter stones, and a time to gather; a time to embrace, and a time to be far from embraces.
A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away.
A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak.
A time of love, and a time of hatred; a time of war, and a time of peace.- Ecclesiastes 3:1-8.
We could really use your prayers now. Dad will be going soon.
Please note the new email address; the old one got hacked and I have terminated it.
Please, we need more prayers. Dad's back in the hospital after a stroke, and is now in the ICU.
Thanks and God bless you.
Some more nescopecks*:
I drove my car to Orangeville,
And rolled it down a rocky hill.
I saw a lawyer and made a will,
Leaving the wreck to Orangeville.
Oh, do not go to Burlington,
Where dire deeds are daily done,
In dark of night, in blaze of sun -
Beware, beware of Burlington!
Oh, in the town of Hackensack
They manufacture bric-a-brac,
So if your knick must have a knack,
Then hurry off to Hackensack.
If you should go to Baltimore,
Keep tightly leashed the dogs of war:
They do not go for guns and gore
In peaceful, pastoral Baltimore.
A useful tip: In Liverpool,
Politeness is their iron rule;
You may be challenged to a duel
If you don't say "Please" in Liverpool.
Once on a time in Timbuctoo,
A young man faced and bravely slew
A gnashing, grinning, grisly grue,
Lifting a bane from Timbuctoo.
When last I was in Samarkand,
I found myself on every hand
Beset by foes - a dreadful band -
I shan't return to Samarkand.
* So called because the first one I ever composed was about Nescopeck, a small town in Pennsylvania (Orangeville is another - we drive through them when visiting my parents). However, since it was (a) only mildly funny and (b) unnecessarily derogatory, I have suppressed it permanently.
