Another entry for the "shocking but not surprising" file: Christopher Johnson, at
Midwest Conservative Journal, has
a post about
this story from England, where "the Church of England is considering rejecting England's patron saint St George on the grounds that his image is too warlike and may offend Muslims."
To which I say:
The waxing shadow of Mahomet casts a gloom upon a sceptr'd isle:
More timid than their sheep, God's shepherds tremble at the thought of coming trial.
The name and cross and image of St. George, they fear, may fuel Islamic rage,
And so they toss him in the dust and from the Book of Saints rip out his page.
He slew the fiery dragon; they would bow before the worm and call it master.
He came in haste from Heav'n to fight the infidel; they'd run away, and faster.
He died a witness to the Truth; they know this, yet they feel no emulation.
When faith and fortitude are dimmed, then dhimmitude becomes their proper station.
