Trousered Ape
An exercise in presumption.
We have two additional days to ask the Holy Spirit to change the heart and mind of Judge Greer. Let's go!
Anne at Our Home School could also use some heavy-duty praying.
I have just heard that my senior Senator, Arlen Specter, has
Hodgkin's Disease. Please join me in praying for him.
As I have said, I love the English language (perhaps not wisely, but certainly well). One Ian Bruton-Simmons, in
The 2003 Christmas Lecture to the Churchill Society, comes to its defense against those who would corrupt and cheapen it. His address is too compact to summarize; just go and read it. I promise, I will never misuse the word "meticulous" again. (Via
Language Log).
Found
this personality quiz at
Basia me, Catholica sum (now added to the blogroll). At first, it didn't seem accurate, since it had told me I was phlegmatic rather than melancholic; but after going back and forth and fudging the answers a couple of times, and reading the personality descriptions, I decided that it was in fact accurate and had me pegged as 50% phlegmatic/50% melancholic. Naturally, my personality manages to select the worst characteristics from each (I had thought to include a list, but realized that it would be overlong and tedious; you need only go to
Phlegmatic and
Melancholic to discover them).
Dixit:
(At the dinner table)
The Equestrienne (of her sister): She'll drive me into a loony bin!
The Ape (feigning surprise): You mean we're not in one already?
The Equestrienne: Well…an upgraded one.
Dixit:
(At bedtime)
The Storm Queen: I can't snap my fingers yet. But I can gargle. That's a sign that I'm getting to be a big girl.
This story has made its way all over the blogosphere (I found it at
The Corner), and [UPDATE - thanks to
The Old Oligarch] is, it appears, probably
not true. I have therefore removed the original post.
[Further update]: The story is officially false.
I have finally, after unconscionable delay, gotten around to overhauling my (permanently under construction) blogroll. I have added some new links: welcome to
Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam,
The Anchoress,
The Commonplace Book of Zadok the Roman,
The Dawn Patrol,
Diary of a Suburban Priest,
Dyspeptic Mutterings,
Fathers Know Best,
MONIALES OP - Dominican Nuns,
Ruminations, and
The Troglodyte. I have added a few political/current affairs links as well. Finally, I have created a separate category of links to retired/inactive blogs (I don't want to delete them because they might come back someday).
