As I have said, I love the English language (perhaps not wisely, but certainly well). One Ian Bruton-Simmons, in The 2003 Christmas Lecture to the Churchill Society, comes to its defense against those who would corrupt and cheapen it. His address is too compact to summarize; just go and read it. I promise, I will never misuse the word "meticulous" again. (Via Language Log).

Found this personality quiz at Basia me, Catholica sum (now added to the blogroll). At first, it didn't seem accurate, since it had told me I was phlegmatic rather than melancholic; but after going back and forth and fudging the answers a couple of times, and reading the personality descriptions, I decided that it was in fact accurate and had me pegged as 50% phlegmatic/50% melancholic. Naturally, my personality manages to select the worst characteristics from each (I had thought to include a list, but realized that it would be overlong and tedious; you need only go to Phlegmatic and Melancholic to discover them).

I have finally, after unconscionable delay, gotten around to overhauling my (permanently under construction) blogroll.
