The unborn had faith in Santorum,
For he said, "You bet, I'm all for 'em!"
But when their protector
Met Senator Specter,
He said, "What the hell, I'll ignore 'em."
Arlen Specter renominated by about 15,000 votes.
Pooh.
Thank you, President Bush.
Thank you, Senator Santorum.
Why a blog?
Why not? It might be fun. Let’s try it and see.
Why now?
Mainly, because the decision just crystallized. I chose April 26 because it’s my birthday.
Why “Trousered Ape”?
The term is taken from C. S. Lewis’s
The Abolition of Man. The trousered ape is a man who has no knowledge, understanding, or appreciation of virtue, or beauty, or honor, or God; one whose life is confined to eating and drinking and sleeping and copulation; a mere animal. While I cannot claim to be a pure specimen, I come too close for comfort. I barely love God; I don’t know if I love my neighbor or not; I’m vain, short-tempered, lazy, sensual, cowardly; quarter-educated, superficial, and inarticulate.
What else about me?
I’m Roman Catholic, of the type generally labeled “conservative”, “traditional”, or “orthodox”, or at least my sympathies lie with those who are generally so labeled. I’m 48 years old today. For the past six years I’ve been employed as a programmer/analyst at a mid-sized software company, once independent but some years ago purchased by a conglomerate; for many years before that, however, I was in civil engineering and am in fact a licensed professional engineer. I’m very much to the Right politically but not to the point (I think) of insanity. I was born and grew to manhood in New Jersey, but now live in eastern Pennsylvania, in the Lehigh Valley area.
Finally, and certainly not least importantly, I have been extraordinarily blessed with a wonderful wife, a happy marriage, and two of the best daughters in the world.
